Toshi Hori (President and Founder): He is well known in the machine vision industry worldwide. He founded PULNiX in 1982 and devoted his career to corporate management and to camera design and development. He is highly regarded as a visionary in the machine vision industry. Through his management at PULNiX, he had created and introduced many internationally acclaimed products and technical innovations.
During the era dominant by the tube camera, in 1983 PULNiX launched the TM-34K/36K CCD cameras. Shortly thereafter the TM-540 became "The benchmark industrial CCD camera". He developed many homeland security and high security cameras as well as cameras for scientific applications. One of the most significant achievements was the development of the first progressive scan CCD camera (TM-9700) for which he in 1994 was granted the basic progressive scan camera patent. Today, progressive scan cameras are the standard for the machine vision industry. He also designed the Channel Link camera and then promoted the technology as an industrial standard, which is now known as the Camera Link Standard under the AIA (Automated Imaging Association). He also discovered the advantages of Gigabit Ethernet technology for machine vision and worked for its standardization through the AIA. It became known as the AIA GigE Vision Standard. He served for several years on the board of directors of the AIA and on February 5, 2009 was granted the AIA Achievement Award for his leadership and technical contributions.
